EagleSong Gardener ~ Hawthorn Tree: A Tale of Three

“The several hundred kinds of hawthorn laugh at the single name they’re forced to share.” The Overstory by Richard Powers

Join EagleSong on a global adventure bringing the Crataegus genus to life. A remarkably generative genus, the rich stories hawthorn tells are useful medicines, locally and globally.

Some say there are over 2718 Crataegus spp. on earth. After studying Crataegus in five countries, EagleSong began hearing stories from hawthorn unique to the cultures where they’re found. You’ll learn how people, plants and place form an intersection of culture and how cultural need and perspective often determine how plants are used.

From street vendors in Asia, to winter fiestas in Mexico, from the hedges of England and the bocage of northern France, to the herbalist’s office in America, hawthorn protects and nourishes people and places. Wherever this simple, thorny tree lives hearts can grow stronger, people more vital and landscapes richer.  A medicine story for times such as these.

Erin Durett ~ Plants and Chants: Feasting with Hildegard of Bingen with Jane Valencia

Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) was a German abbess, composer, mystic, skilled healer, and saint. Discover how herbal medicine and her music mirror one another as expressions of the Sacred both within ourselves and in the world around us. We’ll get to know the plants and their healing language and sing chant too. We’ll receive spiritual and physical nourishment from both, as well as from our sharing in community. Come as you are: no musical experience is necessary!

Harvest Moon ~ Stories From the Longhouse

You'll enter a timeless time with Harvest Moon. Harvest Moon's skilled direction and fascinating stories of times gone by, those yet to be and the immediate moment captured in the longhouse will carry you away to a timeless realm.

Jacquie Hill ~ A Spoonful of Honey Helps the Medicine Go Down: An Introduction to Herbal Miels

In this workshop, we will use fresh & powdered herbs to create herbal miels.  Miels use honey as a base which has its own host of medicinal benefits.  The combinations are as limitless as your imagination.  Miels make a great delivery for kiddos and can be made into delicious concoctions such as a condiment for charcuterie boards, stirred into hot water for ready to go teas, and aphrodisiac blends to share with someone special.  The whole herb format and honey as a vehicle make for great administration for any and all things GI related.

-This class is designated for all levels.  Beginners can walk away with an easy to do preparation that really delivers herbal medicine to the desired tissues.  More advanced herbalists can really go deep and think about clients with leaky gut, SIBO, or any other condition that would benefit from the herbal material coming into direct contact with the tissues of concern.  Energetics can be applied to the herbs, the tissues, and over all constitution of their clients making for a medium that knows to no end to the personalization that can take place.

Joan Cowden ~ Making Friends with Sleep

Anxiety around sleep diminishes access to this vital, regenerative state. Changing the energy around preparing to sleep can transform this time from one of anxiety to a gentle time of self care. After reviewing the body’s daily light-dark rhythm we’ll do a short journey to identify some positive memories around sleep. This forms a core for powerful herbal and energetic routines we’ll discuss, that help reclaim the rhythm of nightly dark as sacred, nurturing space.

Through lecture and story; exercises and herb tasting and the introduction of the following herbs, Chamomile, Scullcap, Blue Vervain, Peony, Hawthorn, Passion Flower; participants will learn how to use a graduated materia medica and calming routines / rituals that can make the time leading to sleep a nurturing, sacred time.

Jennifer Sundstrom ~ Celebrating the Voice of the Goddess

In this fun workshop, you will tone, chant, and sing your way into greater connection with yourself and each other.  Using Women’s Songs and Sanskrit chants we will dive deep into the powerful sound vibrations that bring healing and transformation easily and gracefully.  Be witnessed as the Divine Goddess you are, as we run Sacred Sound through our bodies. We will warm up our instruments and dive deep into the potent vibrations.

Everyone participates.  There will be some talking to introduce each segment and teaching the particular song/chant.  After each song segment, there will be quiet space, followed by an opportunity for everyone to share what they ‘got’ from that segment, which encourages participants to integrate the experience.

All ages are welcome

Julie Charette Nunn ~ Herbs of Heart & Meaning
